Aerial Crowd Monitoring at Ultra Festival 2026 – Wellington

Aorangi Aerials supported aerial crowd monitoring at Ultra Festival 2026 in Wellington. Working in close coordination with NZ Police and event security teams, we provided aerial oversight to support situational awareness and help event control and security teams have better visibility of the event.

Operating the DJI Matrice 4TD, our team provided aerial monitoring to complement the work of personnel on the ground. The aircraft’s integrated visual, zoom and thermal imaging capabilities offered complementary perspectives for observing crowd movement and maintaining an overview of the event.

Close communication with NZ Police and event security teams was central to our approach, helping align aerial monitoring with the wider event safety operation and support informed decision-making.

The Matrice 4TD’s thermal imaging capability also provided an additional monitoring tool in low-light conditions. Our night-rated pilots and CAA Part 102 operational certification supported the delivery of compliant aerial insights after dark.

This deployment highlights the value of combining enterprise drone technology with close interagency coordination to support public safety and operational awareness at large-scale events.
